OVERVIEW

The Diploma in Theological Studies is designed primarily for anyone who wants to spend two years developing their knowledge of the Bible, learning relevant skills for Christian ministry and developing their own spiritual discipline and devotion. Any Christian who desire foundational but also high-quality theological education for either their own development or in preparation for serving as lay leaders in the Church can enroll for this course. It can also be taken by those who desire to be involved in Christian ministries but are yet unprepared to seek ordination.

The skills and knowledge acquired on this course are an excellent preparation to serve in Christian ministry, mission and leadership. It also gives you the confidence and skills to bring the Gospel into the workplace or lead in a church or community context. The academic teaching on the course also allows progression towards Bachelor’s level study.

Whether you have a calling for the ministry or are following a personal spiritual journey, this Diploma in Theology provides a compelling introduction to the complex subject of theology. The curriculum covers a range of theological topics and you will gain a breadth of understanding about the biblical studies, ministry, mission, and investigate many contemporary religious issues.

The Diploma of Theology is a 72 credit units of diploma program in theology. It is intended to give students an understanding of the major areas in theology for personal interest, as a component in preparation for ministry, or in preparation for further study. The Diploma in Theology is an entry-level course that provides an introduction to the Bible and Christian theology, with the opportunity to learn some basic ministry skills. The course is a great way for Christians to grow in their knowledge and faith and are suitable for some ministry vocations.

This course has been designed for students with no previous background in theological studies or those who might wish to update their theological knowledge. It will especially appeal to students who are preparing for a career in ministry or others who are following a personal journey of spiritual discovery and growth.

PROGRAMME DURATION

The programme is designed to be completed in 24 months, when a full load is taken. However, students have up to five years to complete it.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

To graduate, a student must:

  • Complete all core courses requirements;
  • Fulfil at least 72 credit hours;
  • Obtain an average CGPA score of at least 2.5.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants for the Diploma of Theology must have a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education – SSCE (with Credit in English Language) or its equivalent. Applicants, 25 years of age or older, who do not have a Senior Secondary School Certificate may also be admitted upon successful completion of English Language or an acceptable equivalent. Screening interviews are held to determine the candidate’s aptitude for ministry.
